About Me

In the beginning (1991) photography to me was just another way of telling stories, but as time went on it turned into much more. Photography was an avenue for me to be creative, which then helped me overcome my insecurities and build my confidence. What I realized about photography, was that I was capable of doing more, even things that I never thought possible. For example, in 1998 while attending Adirondack Community College I made the Dean’s List, and in 2000 I became a photographer in the Navy, then in 2017 I graduated College with a double major. 

 

Being almost a half a century old, you can imagine the many stories that I have to tell. Initially when I began my website my thoughts were, how can I create a way to attract customers and make some extra money to provide for my family. After discovering Wix.com I realized that the possibilities were endless. I knew I would end up using this website, not only as a way to show off my work but to tell my story through art and photography. Something I have been doing for almost 30 years. 

 

As you scroll through my website you will discover that on the main menu there is a tab labeled ‘Full Moon’. This story is not only my featured piece, but it also serves as the purpose behind the beginning of my bibliography which happened more than 25 years ago. In the Full Moon, I describe how my initial good intensions turned into a nightmare and as a result I was in a dark place in my life, which I would eventually overcome. Although I was about three quarters finished with my bibliography, I couldn’t continue because the past was just too painful. Over the years, while going to college I started using videography to tell stories. Eventually I created a youtube page (Darin Conway). Then in 2014 I created a Facebook page called D.C.Photography&productions which allowed me to share my work and tell stories using my photography. 

 

Every form of media I do, I get from a vast collection of stories I wanted to incorporate into my bio. But the portfolio I started in 2015 called the ‘Red Series’ made me want to share some of the stories directly from my bio like that of the ‘Full Moon.’ The ‘Red Series’ tells a story in itself from the beginning to the end with a short paragraph describing each photograph. The exciting part for me is that not only will this series continue to grow, but it allows for my Bio ‘To Far’ to really evolve which I believe will not only bless, but I pray will change people’s lives.
